Mangalore: Now, gold found concealed in passenger's TV set at Airport

Mangalore, Jul 16: With smuggled gold getting detected in oats, chocolates and even diapers on previous occasions at Mangalore International Airport, some passengers are finding new ways to smuggle the precious metal.
On Monday July 16, a passenger was caught trying to smuggle in gold biscuits cut into pieces, weighing 580 grams in all, concealed in a condenser inside a television set.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Aslam, a resident of Kasargod. He runs a sweets shop at Nayarmoole, it is said. Sources said that he had left for Dubai just three days ago.
He arrived at Mangalore International Airport from Dubai by a morning Air India flight.
The DRI officials, based on suspicion, checked the television set that was in his baggage and found the gold.
Aslam was arrested by the DRI officials.
