Bangalore: Madani should not be released at any cost - Pramod Muthalik

Bangalore, Jul 16: Abdul Nasser Madani, who is lodged in Parappana Agrahara central jail for his alleged involvement in Bangalore serial bomb blasts, should not be released at any cost, said Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik.

Addressing a press meet here, Muthalik made an impassioned appeal against the release of Madani and said, "Madani who was responsible for the death of two persons in the Bangalore bomb blast in 2008 should not be released for any reason whatsoever.

"The Karnataka police put their lives on stake and managed to get him behind bars. If Madani is released, it will be a great blow to their morale and will be as good as killing their courage," he said.

"Moreover, Madani was also involved in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast which injured 117 people, hence he must not be allowed to go free," he added.

"The menace of terrorism will only increase if Madani is released. In case the government still goes ahead and sets him free, we will launch a statewide protest," he warned.

He also said that the Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 1964 should be restored and followed strictly. "Chief minister Siddaramaiah has recently said that the 1964 Act against cow slaughter will be restored. The Act which fulfilled Gandhiji's dream was brought into force by the Congress way back in 1964. The same should be continued now also. Priority should be given to protect the cow which is the backbone of a farmer's livelihood," he said.
