Mangalore: DD reporter arrested for murder of wife

Mangalore, Jul 15: The wife of a journalist with Doordarshan (DD) was found murdered at his sister's house at J B Road, Kodikal here on Monday July 15.
The deceased is Mamatha Shetty (32), wife of Gangadhar Padubidri who works for DD as a reporter.
Gangadhar has been taken into custody in this regard. Police sources said that he admitted his guilt.
Speaking to reporters, DCP Dharmaiah informed that the family members of the couple said there were misunderstandings and frequent clashes between Gangadhar and Mamatha. The couple had fought this afternoon and Gangadhar is said to have strangled her with a towel.
The body was found in the middle room of the house. Injury marks on her neck indicated that she was strangled.
Mamatha was an assistant professor at SDM Law College.
It is said that there were frequent quarrels between the couple, so much so that they had even approached the police once.
Gangadhar and Mamatha got married three years ago. Theirs was a love marriage. As Mamatha was an orphan, Gangadhar had supported her in obtaining higher education, sources said. As Gangadhar's sister lives in Bangalore, the couple stayed at her house.
Urwa police have registered a case.
