UAE Agnesians, Aloysians contribute Rs 18.22 lac to their colleges

Dubai/Mangalore, Jul 15: Agnesian/Aloysian alumni based in the UAE have donated a total sum of Rs 18,22,000 towards their respective colleges, each college getting Rs 9,11,000, from the savings gathered from their re-union held on February 1 this year.
This donation was possible due to the efforts of all committee members, fellow alumni and their sponsors.
The cheques were handed over recently to the college authorities represented by James Mendonca, the Aloyisan chairperson for the 2013 event and Wilson Samuel, one of the organizing committee members UAE Aloysian Alumni and also Jacintha Mendonca, chairperson for Agnesians for the 2013 event and Shobha Mendonca, the committee member.
On behalf of St Aloysius College the cheque of Rs 9,11,000 was received by the principal Fr Swebert D’Silva and Fr Walter at the college office. The amount will be utilized for scholarships to the needy students who are economically deprived to pursue their higher studies and find good future to sustain themselves.
The contribution (Rs 9,11,000) by the Agnesians was received by Dr (Sr) Prem D' Souza, the principal of St Agnes College. The contribution will be used for scholarships for the deserving students.
The college managements of both the colleges thanked their past students for their generous thought and their dedication and love towards their Alma Mater in donating such an huge amount.
The Agnesians and Aloysians Alumni from UAE have been contributing to their respective colleges in support of various projects and scholarships since 1997, the time they formed their Alumni base in the UAE.
The contribution is the result of the collective efforts and gratitude of past Aloysians and Agnesians to give back to their respective Alma Mater.
Aloysians/Agnesians Alumni jointly hold their reunion once in two years and whatever amount that is generated through the event is sent to their colleges as token of gratitude towards the institutions which have moulded them to be successful in life.
The reunion held once in two years is a popular event and attracts large number of past students for a day of fun and recreation.
