Udupi: 'Kattige Muhurat' marking preparation for Paryaya ascension held

Udupi, Jul 14: 'Kattige Muhurta', in preparation of Paryaya Peetha ascension ceremony to be held in January next year, was held at Kaniyoor Math here on Sunday January 14.
Several bundles of firewood were carried in a symbolic procession from Kaniyoor Math to Sri Krishna Math. The procession was flanked by hundreds of people, along with attractions like chende sets, dolls and musical bands.
The ceremonial planting of banana plantains, Akki Muhurat and other rituals were performed by Sri Vidyavallabhatirtha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math, who will be ascending the Paryaya Peetha on January 18, 2014.
The firewood will be stocked at Sri Krishna Math and used over the next two years to cook prasada and feeding devotees who come to the Math.
The firewood was arranged in a shape resembling the temple chariot.
The next and final ceremony of Battha Muhurat before the ascension of Paryaya Peetha will be held in December this year.
Kaniyoor Math diwan Raghupati, manager Nagaraj Bhat, Krishnaraj Saralaya, Harish Ram Bannanje, Shyamprasad Kudva, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor and others were present.
