Hyderabad, Jul 14 (IANS): Police have arrested a gangster from Haryana and his associate and seized eight country-made fire arms besides stolen vehicles, police said Sunday.
Mohammed Arief alias Shoel and Mohammed Zahid Khan, both hailing from Mewat district, were arrested in the Falaknuma area of the old city.
Police seized three pistols, one revolver, four single shot guns or tapanchas with 70 rounds, a dagger, six four-wheelers, three two-wheelers and Rs.26,000 cash, a police statement said.
The accused, both aged 25, had escaped after threatening a police officer with a revolver and knife when police intercepted them at Langer Houz in Hyderabad July 7.
According to police, Arief confessed to have supplied firearms to five land grabbers in the city. The police named the five realtors, who already face criminal cases.
