Kasargod: Murder of Saabith - Main accused under custody

Kasargod, Jul 13: Relating to the murder of Saabith (19) at J P Colony on the outskirts of the town recently, the investigating team has taken into custody both the main accused, Akshay (18), and Vaishakh (18), residents of J P Colony, from Subrahmanya. It is said that a team led by Badiyadka sub-inspector of police, Ballal, made these arrests.

There are also rumours that the two accused were presented at Badiyadka police station through an intermediary. With the arrest of these two, the number of people taken into custody so far in this case has risen to five, as three were arrested four days back.
As per information gathered by the police officials, a total of seven persons are involved with this murder. The police are expected to issue a confirmation about these arrests shortly.
Saabith, who was moving in a motor bike with another person, was attacked by a gang with lethal weapons, before fleeing. A scooter that was allegedly used for the purpose, and the mobile phone of Akshay, have already been confiscated by the police. While the police are yet to recover the weapons used for murder, they have subjected the blood stains found on the scooter to forensic tests.
The reason for this murder will probably come out once the police complete interrogation of all the five people in their custody now.
