Mysore, Jan 20: It is said that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Well said and how, when you look at two young daughters of a housemaid in the city, who are doing extremely well in studies in spite of being physically disadvantaged. It is only their true grit and determination that saw the back of starking reality of disability.
These two talented girls are Padma and Kanchana, daughters of Rukmini, who works as a house maid for Vasantha Soundararajan, a resident of Jayalakshmipuram.
Kanchana and Padma, had a special interest for studies, and their dream of doing well in studies could have been nailed in the bud itself had philanthropic gesture from Vasantha failed to notice the predicament of budding talents.
After her studies in Mahajana High School here, Padma's ambition to do further studies and her true grit were equally supported by Vasantha, who enrolled Padma into JSS Polytechnic.
Of the younger sibling, Kanchana has bravely brushed aside her physical disability and cruising ahead in her life with a bright academic career in spite of undergoing a major surgery. She is doing her 10th standard in Mahajana College.
What more, the ever helping mother Rukmini might be on top of the world watching her daughters becoming the achievers against all odds.
