Mangalore, Jan 20: Noted journalist and Kannada, Beary and Tulu writer Hamza Malar has been chosen for the "Muslim Literary Award" for the year 2004, for his collection of stories, "Arabastanada Kathegalu." The prize includes citation and Rs 5,000 cash.
Hamza Malar has written more than 25 books in Kannada, Beary and Tulu languages. One of his short story collections "Biligaddada Manushya" has been widely acclaimed by critics as well as readers.
He is the founder editor of "Moilanji". The present award was instituted in the year 1995 by Muslim Writers' Association and is being given to Kannada books/stories by Muslim writers.
