Puttur: Failure to obey order - Man sets wife on fire, arrested

Puttur, Jul 9: In an incident which occurred at Kapinabagilu in Kaukrady village near Uppinangady in the taluk, a man allgedly poured kerosene on his wife and set her on fire for a trivial reason.
Roslyn (40), who suffered serious burn injuries in this incident, was admitted into a hospital in Mangalore. Her condition continues to be serious.
The incident occurred on Sunday July 7 morning. Roslyn’s husband, Bernard Monteiro, has been arrested by Uppinangady police.
Bernard had reportedly bought pork from butcher’s shop on Sunday morning. Immediately after reaching home, he insisted on preparation of dish by using pork. Monteiro got extremely angry after observing that his wife did not take the initiative to cook the pork at once as per his instructions.
In a complaint filed in Uppinangady police station, it has been explained that Bernard immediately rushed to the kitchen thereafter, poured kerosene stored in a plastic can there on his wife, and set her on fire.
