Udupi, Jul 6: A minor child around the age of 13 was rescued from his place of work which is situated close to the Manipal DC office on Saturday July 6 in the afternoon.
The district labour department was notified about the child who was seen working at a milk booth. The child identified as Kumar Nagaraj from Shimoga left his school and studies due to poverty and a mother who was sick.
Sources state that the milk booth is owned by Oswald D'souza.
Currently he will be sent to a special residential school for child labourers in Keddur Koteshwar.
The department stated that if the child is found to be below 13 years of age he wil be handed over to the residential school, if he is older he will be sent back to his parents.
It has been found that around 15-20 children have been found begging throughout the town. This children have come from outside the state.
