Beltangady, Jan 18: Kudremukh mining earned a revenue of Rs 1,000 crore out of the total turnover of Rs 5,000 crore and because of the environmentalists opposition to the mining the Supreme Court has advised to wind up the operations rendering 2,500 employees and 10,000 dependant helpless, said Chikmagalur MP D C Srikantappa.
Speaking to the press after inaugurating several development works here, he said that the State cabinet has decided to allot 700 hectares of land in Damanadurga, Bellary to undertake mining activities. However, it needs three years to relocate the machineries to begin the work there. Hence, the works should continue at the existing location for three more years, said the MP.
The union government has submitted a fresh affidavit to the Supreme Court. Central Empowerment Committee has consented to allow three more years of work.
delegation led by him visited the CM on Monday urging him to present an affidavit from the State government to the Supreme Court.
