Mumbai, Jul 1: St Peter’s Association Barkur (Mumbai), which has served people of Mumbai and Udupi educationally, socially, and culturally, celebrated its annual fest ‘St Peter’s Festival’ on Sunday June 30.
The mass was held at St Vincent Pallotti Church, Marol, Andheri East. Fr S Paul celebrated the thanksgiving mass.
A recognition programme was held later in the evening at Kashyap Convention hall at Bhavani Nagar. Simon Peters Futardo presided and inaugurated the event.
In his address, he said, “This festival should be to supplement togetherness. You are serving the needy in one forum. This should be preserved for the future generation.”
“Unity can be upheld through institutions; this will be helpful to serve. By responding to others’ problems we get peace and it will be motivation for social work. Hence, all should join to serve the needy,” said silver jubilee celebration committee working president Felix Barns.
Harry Rebello Chembur, Reggie Carvalho, Henry D’ Souza, Victor Concesso, and Leo Fernandes Jeri Meri were present on this occasion.
Former presidents Richard Carvalho and Henry Roche were present onstage.
Honorary chief secretary Ivan Rebello spoke about the activities of the institution.
Treasurer Antony Diaz read the report of the institution. Silver jubilee celebration committee secretary Aida Roch spoke about the silver jubilee celebration.
Vice-president Norbert Menezes welcomed and Prinal Fernandes performed the welcome dance. Nirmala Rebello devoutly led the gathering in prayer while Ivan Suares compeered the programme. Eric Coelho thanked the attendees,
