Mangalore: Several injured as bus hits lorry while trying to overtake

Mangalore, Jul 1: Several persons were injured after an express bus hit a lorry in a bid to overtake near Mukka checkpost here on Sunday June 30 evening.
While the lorry driver sustained serious injuries on a his leg, the passengers in the bus escaped with minor injuries.
The accident occured when the express private bus plying from Manipal to Mangalore tried to overtake another vehicle and hit the lorry approaching from the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision was such that the front part of the bus was completely damaged and so also a part of the lorry.
The lorry driver's leg got stuck in the vehicle and the locals with some effort got him out.
More than 10 people in the bus were injured and admitted to nearby hospital.
It is learnt that the recklessness of the bus driver had caused the accident.
Suratkal police have registered a case.
