Mangalore: Goods train rams into mini bus at Adyar - Woman dead, five injured

Mangalore, Jun 30: A goods train hit a mini bus at Adyar crossing here on Sunday June 30, seriously injuring three women, two men and a child. One of the injured women later passed away in hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Zulaikha (60). She reportedly died of heart attack as she was diabetic and had complained of chest pain soon after the accident.
Thahira (40), Noor (8), Hussain (25), Mumtaz (35) who were injured were admitted to Father Muller Hospital. The bus driver Harish Kumar Shetty (51) sustained minor injuries.
It is said that a mini tourist bus (KA 19 C 5811) going towards Neermarga was crossing the railway track at Adyar when a goods train rammed into it. There is no gate at the railway crossing and it was unmanned.
Sources said that the bus driver did not notice the good train as a tree blocked his view. The train hit the bus on the rear end, which made it spin and fall into a ditch nearby.
The bus fell into a ditch nearby. The child was found under the bus after it had fallen, eyewitnesses said. One of the women reportedly lost a leg.
Kankanady police arrived at the spot.
A case has been registered with the city railway police.
