Kundapur: Teacher killed on spot as bus smashes into bike

Kundapur, Jun 29: A bike rider was killed on the spot when a bus rammed into him on NH 66 here on Saturday June 29.

The accident occured at Nandibettu at around 5.15 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Prakash Naik (31), son of Hanumanth Naik. He was a resident of Mullikatte near Trasi, but hailed from Holanagadde, Kumta.

The accident occured when a Ganesh Travels bus rammed into his bike while he was on his way home from Kundapur. He was killed on the spot.

Prakash was a teacher by profession, employed at Arate government school.

It is said that he was staying in a rented house at Mullikatte with his wife Prema, a teacher in a government school at Noojadi. The couple have a six-month-old son named Rahul.

A case has been registered in the Kundapur traffic police station.

I am a regular traveller from kundapura -udupi-manglore I am seeing the bus drivers how they drive they don't have patience most of the drivers and conductors are gundas & drunkards, my humble request with the authorities to take strict action

    Very very sad.
    May his young soul rest in peace.
    Lok at the pathetic condition and state of the roads in india.
    No markings -speed breakers-lighting -no signals-no STOP signs anywhere-shoulder-speed limits-zebra crossings- overhead bridges -tunnels for pedestrians.
    Who is responsible for these killer roads-who laid teh specifications -who is teh contractor -who checks-These are 100% killer roads.
    These cannot be called roads -traffic worthy-this is total sham-scam- shameful.
    In literate india we cant construct a neatly defined road to be calle d a road.2/ where are the cops to tame the vehicle s-check speed limits- traffic police -state police -federal police?
    Is this called administration-is this called governance?Is this called traffic management?
    under whose jurisdiction the roads and traffic come?
    who is responsible for speeding and breaking the laws-Impose heavy fines to all vehicle owners-drivers.
    Like in usa -check for drunk and erratic driving -may be with drug abuse?
    who cares?
    I think time for "WE THE PEOPLE -WE THE JANATHA -THE PUBLIC TO step in"
    Address all these major issues-and solve them .
    Is the driver paying the bus money or his insurance?
    can you bring back the innocent life?
    Can we reconstruct roads one way only.
    separate lane sfor heavy trucks-busses and cars- cycles and 2 wheelers separate lanes s?
    redraw the entire road -traffic business from scratch this is not a joke.
    Call british architects and designers.
    we are not capable.

    Really very sad news about the accident and the sad demise of the teacher.I don't know why the government sits quiet inspite of alarming accidents every day taking the life of so many innocent people.Hope,the suitable steps are initiated to curb accidents and also punish suitably the culprit.Thanq.

    So sad. So many accidents in NH 66. Hope once the highway work completes the accidents will reduce as long distance vehciles will move on highway and local vehciles will move in service roads. But question is when this work will finish? since last 4 years it is going on. It too so many lives.Hope our new Roads n transport minister Ocarji will do some thing to complete this NH 66 work ASAP.

    This is nothing but murder on highways by private buses.The government should publish fact sheet on the number of accidents and deaths caused by private buses in the last 5/10 years between Kundapur and Kasaragod and use it as a tool to completely ban private buses and run only government buses on roads.I am sure the killing on the roads by accidents will reduce by 90%
