UAE, Jun 29: In continuation of human endeavor and to bring about health awareness to the people in the region, GMC Hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah in association with Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Electric Way LLC, organized a free mega health camp on Friday June 28, from 9 am to 5 pm.
More than 5000 visitors attended the free mega health camps conducted in all the three GMC Hospitals at Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah.
The all-important event at GMC Hospital, Ajman was inaugurated and presided by Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, UAE.
A special team of specialist doctors, consultants, nurses and volunteers conducted free consultations and checkups in cardiology, internal medicine, general surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, dermatology, family medicine, urology, nephrology, gastroenterology, dental to all the 3000 visitors who attended the mega health camp at GMC Hospital, Ajman. In addition to this, free blood pressure checkup, blood sugar checkup, HCV (Hepatitis C Virus), BMI checkup was carried out on the visitors to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension which is one of the most worrisome health issue prevalent in this region. The visitors were also offered free medicines besides the 30% discount on laboratory and radiology (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound etc) investigations. Patients can avail the follow-up check-ups for free in the next 15 days. As part of the hospital promotion free hospital brochures, health packages, health magazines were distributed to all the patients and visitors.
“Majority of the people are not insured and do not have health coverage. Hence, this sort of a free health camp gives them an opportunity to avail free checkups, medicines and discounts on various treatments”, said Akbar Moideen, director of operations-healthcare and retail division of GMC Hospitals, UAE.
“Universal Health Insurance Coverage is not mandatory in Ajman. Lack of medical insurance cover often pushes people with low income to defer seeking medical help until the last minute. This practice should be avoided. This is our responsibility to our society so that the people can come and avail of the free services at our hospitals”, opined Dr Manvir Singh, medical director of GMC Hospital.
Thumbay Moideen added, “This free mega health camp which is held as part of our corporate social responsibility gives an opportunity for the public, especially the ones from the low income groups to avail free health checkup and affordable treatment. Our aim is to serve more and more people with this social cause. Inshallah!We will be able to achieve this by conducting two or three free healthcare camps in this year through our upcoming hospitals in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and in Al Jurf-Ajman.”
This human endeavor of GMC Hospitals was well received and appreciated both by the public and the organizers of the event.
