Mangalore, Jan 16: The Parish Day was celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, Suratkal on Sunday, January 15.

The celebration began with a thanksgiving Mass in the morning, offered by Msgr Frederick V Pereira, Fr Lawrence Mendonca and parish priest Fr J B D’Souza.

A ward-leader being honoured

A cultural programme was held in the evening with Fr J.B.D’Souza presiding over the function. St Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor director Fr Valerian D'Souza and Sacred Heart Career Academy Suratkal director Kennedy P A D'Souza were the chief guests. Various past ward-leaders and retired teachers were honoured on the occasion.

Prizes were distributed to winners of various. The programme was compered by Divya. Variety programmes were presented by different wards. A 'Manddo' was presented by the church choir.

A Konkani playlet called 'Ang Bhizlear Maslli Melltta,' penned by J B D’Souza Kulshekar was enacted by well-known artistes Johnny Suratkal (Kuwait), Ivan Pereira (Kuwait), Patrick D’Souza (Abu Dhabhi), Edward D’Souza, Gretta pinto and Angeline, under the direction of Ivan Noronha, Bajpe which was well appreciated.
