Mangalore, Jun 28: During verification of documents at the local airport on the night of Wednesday June 26, the immigration officials found out that a person, who had travelled to Dubai thrice in the past, had been using a passport containing an unauthorized page.
The passenger has been identified as Pallikere Basheer, son of Abdul Rahman, residing at Amina House in Jalinagar, Pallikere in Kasargod.
He was arrested when he came to the airport to undertake fourth trip to Dubai.
He was handed over to Bajpe police station. The police registered a case against him and produced him in the local court.
It is learnt that Basheer found out that his failure to clear SSLC examination had come in the way of undertaking foreign travel. He reportedly approached Tawakkal Travel Agency in Kanhangad for help. There, an agent named Moidu Kunhi tore off the emigration clearance page of an old passport lying with the agency, and pasted the same to the passport of Basheer.
By using this passport, Basheer undertook travel to Gulf thrice in the past. However, the immigration officials found out the foul play when he visited the airport on Wednesday night.
