Manipal, Jan 16: The Distinguished Achievement Awards- 2006 instituted by the Dr T M A Pai Foundation were presented to outstanding Konkanis on Sunday January 15 here.
K K Pai, president of the association, welcomed the gathering.
Also present were M V Kamath, chairman, Prasar Bharati, Ramdas Pai, president, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, H V Kamath, secretary of the foundation, and H Shantharam, administrative officer of the Academy of General Education.
The recipients of the awards are: B P Baliga, vice-president (Support Services), Jet airways Pvt Ltd., Mumbai, Ramdas Kamat, musician and actor from Mumbai, Madhusudhan D Kushe, chairman and managing director of PVS Group of Companies. The award was also posthumously given to R K Rao, freedom fighter and well-known teacher from Kochi.
