Mangalore: Grieving father follows son in death

Mangalore, Jun 26: P Laxman Mallya (70) from Kotekar near Ullal in the taluk breathed his last on Monday June 24. When his end came, Mallya had reached home after witnessing the funeral of his younger son.
Laxman Mallya was a former trustee of Ullal Lord Laxmi Narasimha Temple and Manjeshwar Lord Madanantheshwara Temple. He has left behind wife, a son, and three daughters.
Laxman Mallya had voluntarily retired after working for Ganesh Beedies for two decades. He was running his own business at Kotekar. He had functioned as founder president of Kolya Adarsha Mitra Mandali, president of Ullal Lions Club, and honorary president of Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti Kotekar Beeri.
His younger son, P Venkatesh Mallya (36) had lost his life on account of some ailment on Monday June 24. Mallya, who had come home after his son’s funeral, suffered cardiac arrest sometime thereof, in the evening.
As a mark of respect to Laxam Mallya, shops and establishments in Kotekar Beeri downed their shutters on Monday. A number of dignitaries including MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, took part in his funeral.
