Moodbidri, Jan 14: Fr Vincent D'Souza of Alangar Church, donated a stage to St Thomas School, on the occasion of his silver jubilee celebration of his ordination.

The stage costing Rs 70,000 was inaugurated by Kuladeep M, the present scion of the Moodbidri palace lineage, by lighting the traditional lamp. He said that the donation of this kind was a memorable one.

Also present on the occasion were businessman Abdulla, school management committee members P K Thomas, Valerian Sequeira and headmistress Sr Stella Crasta.

The public committee oganized Inter-school level competitions were in which 22 students won in various categories.

St Thomas School students win the taluk-level Chess

Taluk level chess competitions were held at Moodbidri and 7 students of St. Thomas school won in the competitions .

Ashwin and Sonali from standard 8th, Jenny Aranha standard 7th, Ansifa Saida 6th standard, won the first place. Sayed Naveen and Fiona Belinda Rodrigues standard 8th,

Arshiya from standard 9th bagged the second prize.

Rotary English Medium School Celebrates 25 years

The 25th annual day was celebrated here at the Rotary English Medium School.

On the occasion, Karnataka high court judge Justice Nazeer Saheb, a product of Moodbidri, was the chief guest. He said, " There should a good rapport between teachers ,students and the parents of the children, which can create a healthy educational environment. And, besides,  the teachers have to read widely from all angles because knowledge only can light up the the society."

The function was presided over by former minister K. Amaranath Shetty. He lauded the progress made by the Education Society. At present, 1239 students are studying in the institution from LKG to SSLC. The result of SSLC has been consistently 100%.

Correspondent S N Divakar welcomed the gathering .Headmistress Sharmila Hemant read the report. Moodbidri Rotary president Jayaram Kotian and secretery Mohammad Shareef were the guests of honour.

The school students presented various entertainment programmes.
