Goa to give Rs.5 crore aid to Uttarakhand


Panaji, Jun 23 (IANS): The Goa government will donate Rs.5 crore in aid to Uttarakhand, which has been ravaged by floods leaving hundreds dead and thousands stranded, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Saturday.

Speaking to reporters here, Parrikar, who also donated his one month salary as assistance, said that the state government would also adopt two villages in the disaster-stricken state and help build infrastructure, which has been destroyed by the flooding Ganga.

"I am also appealing to other MLAs (legislators) to donate their one month salary towards the cause," he said.
