Udupi, Jan 12: Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore on Tuesday January 10 inaugurated the Presbytery of St Joseph's Church, Belman near here.  The Presbytery has been built at a total cost of Rs 35 lac.

Bishop Salvador Lobo of Baruipur was the guest of honour for the function.  A thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was offered at 4.15 pm which was attended by more than 1,000 parishioners and guests.

Later on during the formal inaugural programme, parish priest Fr Lawrence Rodrigues thanked the donors and all those who have contributed their mite in building the new Presbytery to the church. "It was a long need to the church as the old building was on the verge of collapse.  The dream has been realized owing to the support and generous help both from the parishioners and other donors," he added.

 Walter Fernandes, the chief architect and Pradeep Quadros, the contractor were honoured on the occasion.  Along with them, the other persons who have contributed their service in the building the Presbytery.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore congratulated the parish priest for the commitment and dedication in building a beautiful Presbytery. He hailed the decision of parish priest and committee for not selling the used material of previous building, but donating them to the needy families within the parish.

Parish council vice president Sylvester D'Mello proposed the vote of thanks.
