New Delhi, Jun 19 (IANS): Delhi University has given an extension of a few hours for submitting online and offline registration forms for admission to the varsity's newly-introduced four-year undergraduate programme. Wednesday is the last day for submission of the forms.
The registration for the optical mark registration (OMR) forms has been extended till 4 p.m. Wednesday in all the 18 admission centres. The online registration has been given even a longer extension -- up to Wednesday midnight.
"In view of the prevailing weather conditions and to help the candidates applying for the four-year undergraduate programme, it has been decided to extend the time for receiving completed OMR forms up to 4 p.m. at all the admission information centres. The online forms can be submitted up to 12 midnight," said J.M. Khurana, varsity's dean of students' welfare.
Earlier, the admission centres distributed and received forms only up to 1 p.m.
DU has received over 200,000 applications since the start of the admission procedure on June 5. The varsity also saw a record number of online registrations for its various programmes.
"This time, the number of online forms that has been submitted is remarkable. Around 1.4 lakh forms have been received so far and we are expecting more," Khurrana added.
DU has introduced the four-year undergraduate programme starting this academic year under which the students will be required to study 11 foundational courses in the first two years, clubbing together students who seek vocational education with those pursuing pure academic disciplines.
