Mangalore, Jan 12: It is now quite evident that train service between Subrahmanya and Sakleshpur which was put on hold for the last 8 years will soon be resumed.  A lot of positive signs are being shown in this regard by the departments and officials concerned.  This augurs well as it gives hope that the much-awaited and anticipated train service between Bangalore and Mangalore too will be resumed.

This hope received a major boost on Wednesday January 11 when a goods train chugged off between Subrahmnya and Sakleshpur.

A double engine and 40 wagon train with 1,100 tons of load left Sakleshpur at 8.30 in the morning and reached Subrahmanya at 12.30 pm.  Thereafter, the same train left back to Sakleshpur at 1.15 pm and reached at 4.45 pm.

Later speaking to the reporters, assistant engineer Rajgopal said that goods trains with a load up to 3,800 tones of load would continue to ply on the route from Thursday January 12.

With this a major hurdle in resuming the Bangalore - Mangalore train service has been cleared and one can hope to travel by train to the state capital in the near future.
