Mangalore/Kundapur: Woman, young man electrocuted in separate incidents

Mangalore/Kundapur, Jun 19: Two persons were electrocuted in separate incidents on Tuesday June 18.
Sunanda Bhandary (52), wife of the late Pramod Bhandary, resident of Bhoojakshi Nilaya near Pumpwell, Ujjodi in the city, breathed her last after electricity passed through her body.
It is said that Sunanda was electrocuted as soon as she put on the grinder switch at her home on for wet grinding. She is survived by son, Avinash, who works as an engineer for Mescom, and daughger, Jyotsna, who has been married off. Sunanda''s husband, Pramod, too worked for Karnataka Electricity Board, it is learnt.
On Tuesday, Avinash came home from work and rang the doorbell. As his mother did not respond for a long priod, he peeped through the window and saw that Sunanda was lying on the floor, and the wet grinder was running. He broke open the door thereafter, and with the help of others, arranged for shifting the body to a hospital.
In another incident, Prashant Kulal (22), son of Narayan Kulal from Kumbaramakki Jeddu, Kolkebail,Shiriyara village in Kundapur taluk, died instantly after coming into contact with live wire.
Prashant, after completion of his education in ITI, had begun working as an assistant for an electrical contractor named Eshwar. On Tuesday morning, Eshwar had called Prashant for providing power re-connection to the lower primary school at Shiriyara, as its service wire had snapped.
Prashant, who began to work on the job without checking whether electricity was flowing or not, was electrocuted.
He was the only son of his Narayan Kulal. A report in this respect was filed in Kota police station.
