Bangalore, Jan 12: Japanese automobile maker Toyota Motor Corp. plans to resume production at its idled car factory in southern India using managers and non-unionized workers, an official said Wednesday.
Nearly 1,550 of the 2,350 workers at Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. went on strike Friday to protest the firing of three employees.
The company now plans to redeploy the 800 workers who didn't join the strike and resume production within a day or two.
The plant's general manager says the lockout hasn't affected the company's sales in India. He says the plant and dealers have enough inventory to last one month.
Toyota has invested 350 (m) million dollars in the Indian subsidiary.
