5-yr-old mowed down; Congress leader's kin held

Mumbai, Jun 18 (PTI): A five-year-old girl was mowed down in Mumbai by a speeding car allegedly driven by a kin of senior Congress leader Gurudas Kamat, police said on Tuesday.

The mishap look place last night at suburban Goregaon near Hypercity mall. The minor, identified as Lado Gupta, was run over allegedly by the vehicle of Raunak Desai, son of former Congress corporator Sameer Desai.

Desai is the nephew of the former Union minister.

The girl died on the spot following which Raunak surrendered before Goregaon Police and was placed under arrest.

A case has been registered against him under section 304 (A) of the IPC.

Police are awaiting the girl's autopsy reports and also the medical report of Raunak to ascertain whether it is a case drunken driving.

    Its an road accident & must be considered as per prevailing Law. Dragging congress leader name simply because the person driving is his son is not at all correct.

    Whether he is a Minister's son or a Film star, the person deserves severe punishment for his carelessness and loss of little Angel. Unfortunately, Indian Judiciary is truly blind. It can not see the injustice caused with money and muscle power.

    The Beacon light on ministers vehicle is warning sign .."Danger - Minister is travelling at high speed" . They forget that they are elected by people once they got the position and play with poor peoples lives. Here is the irresponsible ministers kin !!
