Mangalore, Jan 11: A resolution to rename Bajpe Airport as "Rani Abbakka Airport" was presented during the VI Annual Rani Abbakka Fest at Ullal here.
Along with this 12 more resolutions were presented during the valedictory ceremony of the Rani Abbakka Fest in the presence of deputy chief minister M P Prakash at Tokkottu. Speaking on the occasion, the deputy CM told that the government would take suitable decision with regards to the implementation of these resolutions.
The other resolutions include the demand to celebrate Rani Abbakka fest every year with the aid from the state government and the help of a local festal committee, naming the Queen's Road at Bangalore as Rani Abbakka Road as per the resolution passed during the earlier Rani Abbakka Utsav, renaming the Dakshina Kannada district either as Tulunad district or Mangalore district, establishing the statue of Queen Abbakka in one of the main roads that lieswithin the confines of Mangalore City Corporation and establishing a Rani Abbakka Circle.
The resolutions such as including a lesson about Rani Abbakka in the books of primary and high school education, naming at least one Delhi bound train that passes through the city as 'Rani Abbakka Express', naming one of the warships of the Indian navy as 'INS Rani Abbakka', renovating the dilapidated Jain Basdi at Ullal and turning Someshwar beach and the surrounding areas into tourism spots.
The feast committee also presented the resolution to start 'Rani Abbakka Chair' in Mangalore University and name a Coast Guard Ship as 'Rani Abbakka'.
