UAE: Rony Byndoor elected convener of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum

Dubai, Jun 16: The election for the new office-bearers of Daiji Dubai, the most revered forum of Konkani writers in Dubai, was held at founder convener and member Dayan Mukamar’s residence on Thursday June 13.

The following were elected to run the office for next 2 years:
Convener: Ronald Nazareth (Rony Byndoor)
Joint convener: Clarence Fernandes (Nanu Marol)
Treasurer: Sunil Fernandes, Kota
Rony Byndoor, a dynamic youth leader is a familiar name in the circles of Mangalorean Konkani community in Dubai. He began his journey as short story writer in Konkani literature. His flair in compering is widely appreciated. He considers the late legendary singer Wilfy Rebimbus as his role model. A promising singing talent, his skills are underutilized in this field.
Nanu Marol, a cheerful personality is immensely talented and multifaceted. He has always been recognized as an outspoken and fearless critic and nowadays is also acknowledged for his acting skills.
Sunil Fernandes Kota’s short stories have been published in most of Konkani magazines and periodicals. He garnered great accolades for his humour column in the popular weekly ‘Poinari’ some years back.
Outgoing convener Stany Pinto (Neerude) thanked the support rendered by Daiji members during his tenure and expressed his pleasure in being the convener of Daiji Dubai and wished great success to the new committee.
Noted writer Stan Ageira carried out the election process in co-ordination with Walter Nandalike.
