Mangalore: Prajna Counselling Centre gets state award from labour department

Mangalore, Jun 15: Prajna Counselling Centre, a non-profit organization which has been engaged in the work of rehabilitating needy and marginalized sections of society, espcecially women and children who are exploied, has been honoured with a state-level award in recognition of its service over the last two decades.
Prajna Counselling Centre was selected by the state labour department for the award for protecting and rehabilitating children who are pushed into child labour.
The award was handed over to Professor Hilda Rayappan, founder-director of Prajna Counselling Centre during a programme held to mark the ‘World Day Against Child Labour’ at Jnana Jyothi auditorium in Palace road, Bangalore on June 12.
The honor to Prajna Counselling Centre was bestowed by labour minister P T Parameshwar Naik.
Prajna Counselling Centre has been striving hard to bring needy children deprived of education to the main stream, especially child labourers, and rehabilitate them. The organization also provides counselling and rehabilitation to women who are subjected to exploitation.
Labour commissioner Harsh Gupta was present at the ceremony.
