Bangalore, Jun 14: Senior IPS officer, Seemanth Kumar Singh, was on Thursday June 13, appointed as the commander of the state’s Anti-Naxal Force (ANF).
He will be taking over mantle of the ANF at a time when naxal activities have gained momentum in some north Indian states.
Seemanth had worked as the superintendent of police of Dakshina Kannada district, as well as city police commissioner of Mangalore earlier. Soon after the infamous homestay attack, he was posted as DIG (civil rights enforcement), Bangalore, and in between he was sent to London for training for a couple of months.
He will fill the post of the ANF commander, which has remained vacant after the transfer of Sunil Kumar during the assembly election.
The state government reportedly came to the conclusion that leaving this post vacant is not desirable at a time when the centre as well as states are required to gear up to meet fresh challenges posed by naxals.
