Bantwal, Jun 13: Vittal police station sub-inspector, Madhava Koodlu, is set to be reinstated, as the complaint on the basis of which he was suspended has been found to be baseless.
Imtiaz (22), son of Abdul Rahiman from Kambalabettu Shanthinagar in Vittlamudnoor village near Vittal, had left home for Hyderabad in search of a job on May 7. As he had not informed his family of his intention, his mother had filed a missing complaint on May 9. Reportedly, Imtiaz was in love with one of his classmates, but both the families had disapproved this relationship. Imtiaz never contacted his family after his disappearance.
Newspapers had reported on June 7, about the recovery of a lifeless body on the banks of River Netravati. When the family of Imtiaz made enquiries at Vittal police station, they were informed that the said body has been disposed off after inquest. The family members, who saw the photograph of the deceased, came to the conclusion that it belonged to Imtiaz. They issued a press statement saying that the family of the girl, with whom Imtiaz was in love, had killed him. The girl has already been married off to someone else, it is said.
After a group met minister, Ramanath Rai, and complained that the body of Imtiaz, which was found on the river bank, was buried without allowing the people concerned to have a look at it, the minister spoke to the inspector general of police (IGP). The IGP in turn, asked the superintendent of police to suspend the sub-inspector of polie, Madhava Koodlu, for insufficient investigation.
Imtiaz has now come back. He says he failed to bag a job in Hyderbad in spite of repeated efforts, and had decided to come back, as he craved to meet his parents. The family of Imtiaz has now requested the concerned to withdraw the sub-inspector’s suspension.
