Nitish and Navin positive on federal front: Mamata

Kolkata, June 12 (IANS): Two days after urging all non-Congress and non-BJP regional parties to form a federal front for next year's Lok Sabha polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday said she has spoken to her Bihar and Odisha counterparts who have reacted positively to her proposal.

Banerjee who is also the Trinamool Congress chief, was speaking after meeting Janata Dal-United leader K.C. Tyagi at the state secretariat here.

"I made an appeal through Facebook for setting up a non-Congress and non-BJP Federal Front. I have already discussed the matter with (Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal chief) Navin Patnaik and (JD-U leader and Bihar chief minister) Nitish Kumar. They have responded positively," Banerjee said after her talks with Tyagi.
Banerjee said some other leaders also deliberated with her on the matter. "We will meet at an appropriate time."

Tyagi, who called his visit a "courtesy call", said "both the UPA and the BJP have failed".
Banerjee's talks with Nitish Kumar come against the backdrop of  the buzz that the JD-U is on the verge of deserting the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the wake of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's elevation as the BJP's election campaign committee chief.

The JD-U, particularly Nitish Kumar, is strongly opposed to  projection of Modi as the NDA's prime ministerial candidate as they fear the step would alienate the minorities.
Political analysts feel Modi's elevation as the BJP campaign committee head is a precursor to him being projected as the party's prime ministerial candidate.

Banerjee Modnay appealed to all non-Congress, non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regional parties to launch a united fight, saying they needed to walk together to free the country from "misrule" and "anti-people" decisions.

"Time has come for all the regional parties to come together and form a Federal Front in the coming Lok Sabha elections."

"I appeal to all the non-Congress, non-BJP regional parties to launch a united fight to free the country from misrule and anti-people decisions, and work together to build a better and brighter India," she said in a post on her Facebook page.

"Let us stand together. Let us talk together. Let us decide a plan of action for the next Lok Sabha elections," she said.

Since leaving the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance last September, Banerjee has been pitching for all non-Congress and non-BJP parties to rally together ahead of the next general elections.

Third front is not going to happen. These regional leaders fight for power every day. Whatever coalition government should have either BJP or Congress. If Third Front is formed and they come to power, then there will be elections within six months of forming the government. People need to be very careful. They should either support Congress or BJP and should not support third front at any cost. Nitish and Navin are top aspirants for PM's post but I don't think they will last long. Nitish Kumar should support BJP and he should get crucial representation in NDA. Now as BJP has appointed Narendra Modi as BJP's election campaign committee chief he is automatic choice for PM's post from BJP. Congress is marred with corruption and they had two terms already and definitely not a surprise if people of India look for alternative in BJP led NDA.

    My Prediction few days back-
Either UPA or Third Front propped by UPA to prevent NDA from forming the government in 2014.
    Let us Wait & See.

I am not a member of any political party yet.But support secular parties wherever it deemed appropriate.Yeah, under the circumstances UPA is not @ driver seat and it's image was bleak due to scams and price rice.It could be rectified(image) with in a year and Modi factor could be deciding issue in forthcoming LS election.

When Gujarat leader Mr. Modi became BJP's P.M. Candidate, in the place of Shri. L.K. Advani, Central leader other regional leaders started feeling insecure!
What if Mr. Modi become P.M. and OTHER STATES neglected?
Therefore to head Union Govt.only Central leaders are needed who have mass appeal all over India and are fair to all states!

Didi can't be trusted!Mulayama-Nithish-Karunanidhi-CB naidu-Naveen.P and DD combine could garner 150 plus MPs there could be fair chance for third front or UPA-THIRD Front combine.

Anyways, there could be a powerful combination against BJP headed NDA will be reality. In the event of such combination polarization of votes and vote bank could seen.

Federal Front would be a real good option before the people to opt between UPA & NDA

    1. Congress is corrupt.
    2. BJP & some of its allies are
    Corrupt & Communal
    3. Some parties in Federal Front
are corrupt but are not communal
so people can opt for a much
    needed change.
    4. More regional parties like
    AIDMK, CPI, CPM, Telugu Desam.
JDS, YSR Congress etc. may join
    them

This combination is just not feasible . Lets 'assume' for a moment and say they get the seats & join the hands, the PM who-so-ever becomes will resign within few days because managing the team wont be anything less than managing a circus.
