Lucknow, Jun 7 (IANS): Heavy rains lashed Lucknow and nearby districts Friday, considerably bringing down the temperature.
The rains started at 3 a.m. and continued for well over two hours, leaving many parts of the city water logged.
The regional met office said that the weather was likely to be the same till the next day and predicted scattered rains at some places.
The rains also brought respite from severe humid conditions that prevailed in most parts of the state over the past two days.
Owing to the rains and gusty winds, electricity wires snapped in many localities leading to power outages.
The weatherman said that winds laden with humidity were causing rains in many parts of the state.
Rains brought down the mercury by a few notches Friday and early morning temperatures were recorded at 21 degrees celsius.
The early morning temperatures in major cities of Uttar Pradesh remained between 21 to 23 degrees celsius, the met office said and added that the day temperatures are likely to be around 35 degrees celsius.
