Beijing, June 1 (IANS): Chinese government has decided to boost the quality of domestic dairy industry.
The Chinese cabinet Friday announced detailed plans in this direction in compliance with its commitment to address a persistent food safety issue which hinders more robust growth in the world's second-largest economy, Xinhua reported.
In an executive meeting of the State Council headed by Premier Li Keqiang, the government vowed to improve the quality of development of the nation's dairy industry.
It also decided to help make some domestic brands well established so as to regain consumer confidence.
Under its detailed plan, the government would support the standardised scale farming of cows and encourage mergers and restructuring among milk powder companies to promote the dairy industry to develop in a standardised and modern manner.
