India, Slovenia discuss bilateral cooperation

Ljubljana (Slovenia), May 28 (IANS): India and Slovenia have held talks over bilateral cooperation in various sectors including economy, culture, and especially their parliaments.

The talks were held in this capital city between Slovenian parliament speaker Janko Veber and his visiting Indian counterpart Meira Kumar. The two sides called for boosting trade and investment between their countries, Xinhua reported Monday.

Stating since Slovenia was geographically situated at an entry point to central Europe, Veber suggested there should be closer cooperation between Slovenia and India in the maritime transport.

Kumar, who is speaker of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian parliament, said there was great potential to upgrade India-Slovenia cooperation. Due to its beautiful landscape, Slovenia could become one of the most popular destinations for Indians, a government release said here.

During her three-day visit, Kumar will also meet with Slovenian President Borut Pahor and Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek.
