Mumbai, May 25 (IANS): Singapore is ready to help Maharashtra develop its infrastructure in major cities like Mumbai and Pune, an official said Friday.
This was indicated by visiting Singapore Deputy Prime Minister T. Shanmugaratnam in talks with Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan here.
"Singapore is a very small country compared to India. We focussed on providing the best urban infrastructure and developing cities to progress," Shanmugaratnam said.
Though Singapore is famed for its high-class urban infrastructure facilities and efficient transport network, there is still scope for further improvements and development, he said.
Shanmugaratnam added that Maharashtra, a huge state, already enjoys good business and investor relations with Singapore.
He expressed his country's willingness to help the state in urban and infrastructure development, water supply and sewage and other sectors.
Giving an overview of the development in various sectors, Chavan said the state offers huge scope for investments in aviation, health, expansion of monorail and metrorail, and the hospitality industry for Singapore.
