Kundapur: Hotelier from Udupi killed in hit-and-run accident

Kundapur, May 12: In a hit-and-run case at Tekkatte here on Sunday May 12, an undentified vehicle rammed into a man killing him on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Kushal Shetty (45) of Kiradi near Mandarthi.
The accident took place in front of Grace auditorium at Kannukere, Tekkatte.
Eyewitnesses said that as it was dark, they could not identify the vehicle which hit the person and sped away.
It is said that Kushal had been to the auditorium with his wife and daughter to attend a reception hosted by a relative. He had sent his wife and daughter inside the hall and was outside for a friend, when the vehicle rammed into him and vanished.
Kushal Shetty was a hotelier in Udupi. He is survived by his wife Vasanti Shedthi and children Kiran Kumar and Komal. While Kiran is pursuing his studies, Komal is settled in Gulbarga where is employed as a teacher, it is learnt.
It is said that the family's house warming ceremony was scheduled to be held on Monday May 13.
Kota police have registered a case.
