Gadag: Angered by wife's desertion, husband kills couple

Gadag, May 9: A person, who was angered by the fact that his wife had left him for good and started living with her parents, hacked a couple to death.  Shivappa Hosur (55), and his wife, Channavva Hosur (50) lost their lives because of the anger of the frustrated husband.

Basavaraj Hosur is a relative of the couple murdered by him. His first wife had committed suicide, leaving behind a son and a daughter. Both Shivappa and Chennavva had prevailed upon the parents of a girl to marry their daughter off to Basavaraj, so that the small children could be cared for. After marriage, the lady undernt sufferings at the hands of her husband, and left him. Basavaraj then started pressurizing the above couple to bring his wife. Although they succeeded in bringing her back once, she deserted him again because of the problems created by him for her.

Basavaraj Hosur got angry at the fact that Shivappa and Channavva had not been cooperating with him in convincing his second wife to come back and start living with him again. He hacked both of them to death with an axe. With the weapon of murder in hand, he walked to Ron police station, and surrendered there, duly telling the police sub-inspector, M N Hattikatagi, what he had done. A case stands registered against him.a
