Grozny, May 7 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Referring to them as "shaitans", Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said he has no plans to offer any assistance to the suspects in the deadly bombings in Boston, and that the two brothers "got what they deserved".
"The Tsarnaev brothers committed a crime and got what they deserved. I've studied information about these brothers and I'm convinced that they were members of terrorist groups. I refer to them as "shaitans" (Islamic word for Satan or an evil spirit)," Kadyrov said.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar, whose father is an ethnic Chechen, are suspected of planting two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 250 April 15.
Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with police April 19, while Dzhokhar was injured and captured after a massive manhunt in Boston, and is being held at a prison medical facility in Massachusetts.
Kadyrov said he has repeatedly been asked why the Chechen authorities are doing nothing to help the brothers.
"I have no intention of speaking up for them. The Tsarnaev brothers are American citizens and have nothing to do with Chechnya," the Chechen leader said.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had been granted US citizenship, while Tamerlan's application was under review at the time of his death. The brothers had migrated to the US about 10 years before the bombing.
