Railways bribery case: Three more accused in CBI custody

New Delhi, May 6 (IANS): A Delhi court Sunday granted the CBI remand till May 7 of three more people arrested for their alleged role in a bribery case in which the nephew of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal is also an accused.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma sent accused Narain Rao Manjunath, managing director of G.G. Tronics India Pvt Ltd, Samir Sandhir and Rahul Yadav to the probe agency's custody.

All three accused, booked along with five others, were presented before the court where the CBI sought their custody saying their interrogation was required to unearth the alleged conspiracy.

The investigating agency told the court that the three accused were part of the alleged conspiracy and they need to confront them with the other arrested accused.

The court Saturday sent Vijay Singla - Bansal's nephew and three others -- Sandip Goyal, Dharmendra Kumar and Vivek Kumar to CBI custody till May 7.

Singla was accused of allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.90 lakh from senior railway officer Mahesh Kumar for his appointment as a member (electrical) of the powerful Railway Board.

The main accused in the case Kumar, member (staff) of railway board was arrested from Mumbai. He is yet to be brought to Delhi.

The CBI has arrested all the accused for their alleged roles in the bribe case in which a deal of Rs.10 crore was finalised for fixing a top level position in the Railway Board for Kumar.

The agency has said that Manjunath was in regular contact with accused Mahesh Kumar who was trying to get himself appointed to a more lucrative post in Railway Board as member (electrical).

The first information report (FIR) was filed against eight accused - Mahesh Kumar, member (staff) railway board, Manjunath, Goyal, Singla, Ajay Garg, Rahul Yadav, Samir Sandhir and Sushil Daga under Indian Penal Code's section 120B (criminal conspiracy) read with section 7, 8 and 10 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Bro, I was being sarcastic. I see now that it was a wasted effort. I would rather prevent milk from being spilled in the first place than praise the CBI for cleaning the mess up with honesty and integrity. Oh wait, scratch that, the CBI lied under oath under direct orders from UPA 2.

Laloo Prasad is reported to have started a coaching class for politicians where he teaches " 1001 ways to take bribe and not to get caught " . Bansal & Nephew should have joined it.
Had our Karnataka BJP Ministers joined Laloos classes 2 years ago itself then in this election they would have retained the power.

You are right Leach, our Prime Minister MMS is an honest and able administrator. The fight against graft is going in right direction in a transparent way by our investigation agencies. It is their primary duty to find out illegal things. If there is no proper agencies like lokayukta the leaders will pose themselves as honest as we seen in Gujarat. Nothing new in this matter. Even Shreeman Atalji was irked by the corruption of his son in law Ranjan Bhattacharya who make a lot of money. So as you said congress learnt lessons and doing its best effort to stop corruption. We must bring back UPA3
