Mumbai, Apr 28: Trained Bharatnatyam dancers, Saujanya Billava and Ankita N Naik will be officially initiated to the stage of classical dancing through the ‘Arangetram’ programme being held at 6.30 pm on Sunday April 28 at Vishweshwaraiah Hall of Karnataka Sangha Mumbai at Matunga in the metro.

The programme is being presented by Nateshwar Kala Mandir here, under the tutelage of which the above dancers were trained. Saujanya is the daughter of Ananda Billava from Kalinabagil in Kundapur Vandse, and Saraswati Billava of Hoskote Hakkala Mane. She is a seventh standard student of Kamala High School, Khar (west) here, and has been undergoing dance training since about a decade. She also has presented programmes at Nateshwar Nritya Kala Mandir, Marico Industries,Nritya Surabhi, Billava Seva Sangh, Noopur Dhwani, Kala Ghoda Festival, Bandra Celebrations, etc, and has won hundreds of prizes.

Ankita is the daughter of Soorappa Kalasemane from Shimoga and Saroja Naik from Muttu Nilaya Hanglur, Kundapur. She is a tenth standard student of Duruelo Convent High School in Bandra (west) here. She has participated in hundreds of programmes all over the country including St Andrews College and earned accolades from the audience.

Both the above brilliant performers are being trained in classical dance by Chaya Khavate.
