Mumbai, Apr 15: The annual media cup cricket tournament that was organized by metro based Media Sports Academy began at Central Railway (CR) Sports Association grounds, Parel (East) here on Saturday April 13 morning.
Bollywood celebrity and ‘Commando’ movie hero Vidyut Jamval inaugurated the eleventh Annual Media Cup cricket tournament that was organized to lay significance to women journalists here by batting.
Speaking on the occasion, Vidyut Jamval said that self interest in sports is essential that fosters friendship and communal harmony. It has been the part of life.
Falcon Offshore Services Private Limited managing director Conald J Baptist and builder Rashmikant Shah and others were the specially invited guests present.
The tournament is sponsored by RDBL, N Force Infrastructure India Private Limited, Mangalore and Issar Financial Services Private Limited, Mumbai and other organizations. A huge number of teams from across Maharashtra are participating in the tourney.
The Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh Maharashtra is also a team which is participating in the tournament with the direction of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh – Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palettady and leadership of vice president Kallige Dayasagar Chowta, executive president Jaya C Poojary.
Chief secretary Rons Bantwal, Ramesh J Maroli, Santosh K Devadiga, Bharat A Shetty (Karnataka Malla – Kannada daily), Ravindra R Shetty, Purandar G Amin, Ravindra N Poojary (Udayavani – Kannada daily), Harry R Sequeira, Suresh N Shetty Yeyyady, Ratnakar Matti and others were present at the occasion.
Ashok R Devadiga (Karnataka Malla – Kannada daily), a player representing the team of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh bowled to Vidyut Jamval.
Media Sports Academy president Jawahar Nadar welcomed the gathering. Secretary Calvin Joshua Udupi proposed vote of thanks.
The first match was played between the teams of NDTV (A) and India TV, where India TV won the match.
