Mumbai, Apr 15: The New Delhi-based Central Sahitya Akademi has reorganized its various committees. As part of the exercise, it has chosen ten persons to Kannada Language Advisory Committee for the term 2013 to 2017. Dr G N Upadhya, head of the department of Kannada, Mumbai University, is one of the members to be appointed to this advisory committee.
Renowned researcher, Dr M M Kalburgi, Dr Arvind Maalagatti, Dr Na Damodar Shetty, Dr Lohith Naikar, Dr P Chandrika, Dr Arjun Golasangi, Prof C Naganna, and Dr Vikram Visaaji are the other persons nominated to the said committee.
An executive board for the period, 2013-17 has also been formed under the chairmanship of Dr Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari. Dr Chandrashekhara Kambara is its deputy chairman. The board has 28 members including Kannada representative, Dr Narahalli Balasubrahmanya, and Marathi representative, Dr Balachandra Nemade. This information was provided by the secretary of the Akademi, Dr K Srinivas Rao, through a release.
Dr G N Upadhya has been working tirelessly for strengthening of Kannada language, literature, and culture in Mumbai since the last two decades. Dr Upadhya, who happens to be a renowned researcher and critic, has also published 36 works so far. Under the banner of the metro-based ‘Abhijeet Publications’, he has brought out over 50 works of different authors. A number of Upadhya’s works have bagged awards and honours.
