New Delhi, Apr 11 (IANS): Defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed Seiko as their official watch partner.

The announcement was made in the presence of the entire KKR squad along with their CEO Venky Mysore and president of Seiko Watch India Pvt. Ltd. Susumu Kawanishi.

As partners, the watch-makers will benefit from marketing and visibility rights for the next two years including branding on player headwear and in KKR brand collaterals. Seiko also announced that they have plans to launch an exclusive line of watches and clocks embodying KKR colours and themes.

Speaking on the occasion, Kawanishi said, "It is a proud moment for us to be the official watch partner of the reigning IPL Champions. This is the first time that SEIKO is forging a partnership of this kind in India."

Mysore stated: "We are very excited to partner Seiko for the next two IPL seasons. Seiko as an internationally-renowned watch making pioneer has truly embodied the KKR spirit of 'Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo', fervently facing any given challenge. This resonates very well with the team's passion to excel and that's what makes Seiko and KKR unique in their own way."

The entire KKR squad received Seiko Sportura watches at the time of the announcement.
