Approvals for hotels made transparent

New Delhi, April 3 (IANS): An Internet-based public service delivery system that promises to bring transparency in granting approvals for hotel projects to existing hotels was launched here Wednesday by Minister for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi.

Apart from bringing transparency and making officials more accountable, the system would also enable applicants to access information and check the status of their applications online, the minister said.

"By putting this system in place there will be pressure on the officers of the ministry to deliver on time and an increased accountability on their part," Chiranjeevi said.

"All applicants seeking hotel project approvals, hotel classification and approvals for other services will be able to track the progress of their cases online on a real-time basis," he added.

The minister said all applications would be examined within 15 working days and the inspection of the hotels would be scheduled in the next 15 days.
