Bangalore, Apr 2: ‘Adunika Konkani Kathegalu’ and ‘Ruthu Sankramana Mattu Ithara Kathegalu’, two literary masterpieces in Konkani language were translated to Kannada and released in a function held at Sri Kashi Math hall in Malleshwaram on Sunday March 31.
The book was released at a programe organized jointly by the Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Pradhikara (KBBP), Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation, World Konkani Center, and Karnataka Writers’ Association.
The book ‘Adunika Konkani Kathegalu’ was translated by young translators during a workshop organized by Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi and world Konkani Center in October 2012 while ‘Ruthu Sankramana Mattu Ithara Kathegalu’, book by Gokuldas Prabhu was translated by Geetha Shenoy.
Dr P Dayanand Pai, chairman, World Konkani Center, presided over the function while K Sudhakar Shetty, deputy secretary, Kannada and Cultural Department, was the guest of honour.
The books were released by Dr Pradhan Gurudath, president, Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Pradhikara. He also briefed about these books.
Vivek Shanbagh, prominent writer, editor of ‘Desha Kala’, K Gokuldas Prabhu, Kendra Sahitya Award recipient and Konkani writer, Dr Geetha Shenoy, editor and translator of the book, Dr Vasundara Bhupathi, president, Karnataka Writers’ Association, Basti Vaman Shenoy, founder president, World Konkani Center, were amongst those present.
