Mumbai, Apr 2: Sahithya Balaga Mumbai, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Mangalore, Karnataka Sangha Mumbai, Kannada Sahitya Parishath Maharashtra Division with the cooperation of Mumbai Tulu organizations conducted the 20th ‘Tulu Parba’ at Karnataka Sangha Mumbai’s Smarasa Bhavana at Matunga West.
Dr Mohan Alva, founder president, Alva’s Education Trust, Moodbidri, inaugurated the two-day programme in the presidential presence of veteran litterateur businessman Dr D K Chowta.
“The concept of globalization is restricted only to other issues, but it has not affected our country’s culture. So, in our life time, we should strengthen our culture. It is our responsibility to introduce our culture to our future generations because they are in a dilemma and don’t know what relations are. Unfortunately, the language which existed before several years is now only used for communication purposes. Pathetically, it remained a regional language with inclusion in the 8th schedule,” said Mohan Alva in his inaugural address.
On this occasion, Pradeep Kumar Kalkuara, president, Kannada Sahitya Parishath, released Dr Karunakara Shetty’s book ‘Tuluparbha Nadathi Bathi Thadhi’. Jayaram Shetty Barodi ingurated the book exhibition.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said, “Language and culture grows only if the roots of the mother tongue are fixed in the hearts. The love of language is the only criteria to save the language. I am really happy to see this celebration of Tulu Parba in this ‘Karmaboomi’, he added. He also said that the youth should show an interest in building Tulunadu through Tulu Parba even in the hometown.
Hiryadka Mohandas, president, Devadiga Sangha Mumbai, welcomed, H B L Rao, president, Sahitya Balaga, presented the introductory speech. G T Acharya briefed about the personalities who contributed the arch and stage. Prakash Shetty Pattemane introduced. S K Sundar, honorary secretary, compered the programme. Cultural programme Tulu Yakshagan ‘Talamaddale’ called ‘Pagaridha Sanka’ (Sharathu Sethu Bandha). Samitha’s students performed Yoga, while Anushka Vasanth Saliyan, Priyanjalli Rao, Sama Ganesh Shetty, and team presented a cultural programme.
